I wish someone would start a campaign to hit companies who move their call centres abroad. Having wasted 18 minutes at 25p a minute last night talking to someone in India over a crackly line whose accent I couldn't understand and whose advice was rubbish I'd sign up. A name and shame website with advice on how to stitch up the companies would be great. What I did to stitch up Virgin Media last night, and has worked twice now, is: Having wasted time on their Delhi technical support desk I then rang a general customer support number based in Scotland. I explained that I had just had a shoddy service and wanted to speak to someone in Britain who could give me an answer. After a little provarication I was promised a local call back. Local guy rings back 20 mins later and proper advice is received and problem fixed. Call was normal BT rate charge and my 18 minutes talking to Delhi was refunded and no engineer visit was needed. If everyone kicked up a fuss and insisted on bypassing the foreign call centres or moved to those companies that are committed to local ones they'd soon bring the jobs back. Rant over... |

Don't you just hate that when you get a call asking you to confirm your name and address. When asking who it is and what it's about the reply is we cannot tell you because of the data protection act! The last company who stated this I asked which principle of the act were they referring too which saw a cough and an er I don't know. Receiver firmly placed down! |

The one that amuses me is when they ask you what colour your front door is. This one comes up when they 'prove' whether an engineer has visited or not. |
