AAC has been proven to be better than mp3 at the same bitrate. AAC at 128 is supposed, and I think in tests have proven to be, equal mp3 at 160!
We should all be using ogg vorbis anyway

Gav mate - no paid mp3 download service offers mp3's at 160 k/bits. If I was paying for mp3's I expect at least 192 vbr because I cannot distinguish them from a CD at that rate. And even with my cloth ears I can tell at a lesser rate - just! There again if you think I am nerdy have a butchers at. I am not having a go at musicians distributing their own music but please do it at a decent quality bit rate worth shelling out our hard earned quids for. I for one do not shed a tear at the record companies slow demise. Been predicting it for years. Ostriches spring to mind. |
