Went to a preview of this film last night. Beautifully shot, and superbly played out. Ian Curtis doesn't come over in a very favourable light, but the accuracy of the musical and vocal moments makes this an absolutely essential piece of viewing. You could have heard a pin drop throughout the whole 2 hours last night, so that was good. The Rob Gretton character was made very important, which I suppose probably was the case. But still... for those of us old enough to remember Joy Division as a current band... well, it still feels a bit wrong, although maybe sacrilege is too strong a word... just leave the memories intact. But ah well. |

mark riley said on his show last night that he'd recently spoken to peter hook who he said thought it was an amazing piece of work (and the second weirdest experience of his life). joy division were too early for me and too late for my parents so i never really got into them. i still want to see it though. |
