Nice fella... good statesman... but way too undynamic and with his party dropping to 11% in one poll and struggling in most others, his lack of presence was giving the Nasty Party a chance of capturing seats... so good riddance. In a nice inoffensive way, obviously. Anyone got any preference about who replaces him? Actually, is it just coincidence that Tim's reappeared? Check the resignation note for his fingerprints... |

Actually, thinking about it, shows just how nice and equally maybe just how frightened his party is about a leadership election, that he stepped down without a huge bloody battle. |

NOt just Charles Kennedy, he bumped off each of his opponents during the leadership race with a carefully orchestrated dirty tactics campaign. Shocking too the treatment Kennedy got when he admitted to his alcoholism, for a party so keen on fairness for all that was a poor example to set. |
