The next night will be a special dedicated to the sounds of independent Scotland. You will likely hear Orange Juice, The Pastels, Author! Author!, Josef K, Fire Engines, BMX Bandits, Soup Dragons, The Associates, Teenage Fan Club, Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream, Belle & Sebastian, Ballboy, Camera Obscura, Shop Assistants, Fizzbombs, Aberfeldy, Hermit Crabs, California Snow Story and the Cocteau Twins amongst others.

Alongside the regular dj's there will be guest sets from Jamie Holman formerly of Track & Fields finest Tompaulin and now of The Fischers. He will be joined by Chimes, the founder of the excellent Penelope Tree & Ten Year Plan club nights.

The Soup Kitchen takes place on November 24th 2007 downstairs at The Royal George, Goslett Yard, 133 Charing Cross Rd, London, WC2H 0EA between 8pm and 1am. Entry is free!

Well, I'm sure I'd feel much worse if I weren't under such heavy sedation.

As long as there's sex and drugs, I can do without the Rock 'n' Roll....

I'd say Half Cousin, but not sure it would work. Maybe Amsterdam by UNPOC.

Loneliness Shines, Break My Heart or We're all going to die by Malcolm Middleton are all remarkably uptempo and would be good. Or if you want to be seasonal he's got a song on Into the Woods which starts "Autumn you f*cking c*nt, bringing me memories that I dinnae want" - which is very scottish and always raises a cheery smile

. Can't remember what it's called though.

Oh and make your Mary Chain song Upside Down- their finest moment.
