Having an argument with my chimps. They like Guns and Roses and LA and all that. It got me thinking. I don't think i actually like any West Coast American music. I like Pet sounds, but appart from that...i can't think of anything of the top of my head. Please prove me wrong. |

Coachwhips ! Not your archetypical west coast band, but they were from San Francisco and any band that gets banned by Artrocker must be doing something right! |

They set up in the corner of the Buffalo Bar opposite the stage, with the audience surrounding them, broke a light bulb (or as Thomas Artrocker would have it, an expensive lighting fitting). Played a wild, noisy set and blew all the fuses in the building several times, including the pub upstairs, where many locals were trying to watch an Arsenal European game (a disruption for which a medal is surely deserved). Not only were they banned, but Delia's review of the night for Artrocker magazine was edited to remove all references to them having played at all, leaving only some stuff about support act The Gin Palace, as was an Everett True piece that referred to a different Coachwhips gig in Brighton! I left a post on Artrocker's on line forum only for a terse message to follow saying that "discussion of this band is not welcome on the forum"! Quite why they booked a band with a reputation for chaotic live shows, only to pretend it had never happened, is one of life's mysteries, but for many of us there it was by far the best night that Artrocker had ever put on. For me, one of the best gigs by anyone, anywhere, anytime! |

still exist but only as darren and anne. they never play out of the states. they were slated to do truck last year but took some big bucks to go to a japanese festival instead (allegedly). not that it mattered in the end as it was underwater the first 2 albums 'once' and 'twice' are great, and as i said live they were brilliant. dont take my word for it kitten says it was great too |
