What's your best attempt at getting into a gig that you didn't have a ticket for?

Cock Weasel, whom many of you will know on here, got into a sold out gig at the Barfly once by playing the raspberry card. Stood with his crutches as the poor young lad on the door looked up and down a credit card list for a name he'd never find (as he'd never actually bought a ticket). Eventually let him in as the huge buffoon was becoming a fire hazard blocking the stair well.

Bola and I once got into Cargo when I claimed I'd bought a ticket online. Within 30 seconds of the guy starting to look for my name I realised I'd never actually got round to buying them. Still got in for nowt as the manager couldn't be bothered to quibble with us.

Anyone claimed to be 'in the band' or Geoff Travis or owt?

I blagged my way into the Nelson Mandela freedom gig on Trafalgar Square by noticing that everyone had green wrist bands.

So i went into WH Smiths in Charing Cross station, baught a pack of file dividers, took out the green one and cut it into a wristband sizes and got in that way.

Alas the bands wen't very good. Saw Scary spice's nip though.

Blimey, i'm not sure if that green wrist band thing was a moment of genius or madness!

I'm the opposite of blagging - I get invites, have the tickets and can't normally get to the gig. God, I wouldn't have it in me to blag in to gigs. I hate seeing people saying 'I'm with the band' it's and all very tiresome.

Got in to see The Pop Group at some London college show in the early 80s, by making a black smudge with cigarette ash on the back of my hand and telling the door lady that the smear was where my hand stamp had gone all smudged when I washed my hands. She obliged by stamping my hand "again".
Also got into several gigs at the ICA in the 80s by buying at £1 ticket for the gallery and taking various colours of highlighter pens in my pocket. I'd then find out which colour they were using for the gig re-admission and draw the appropriate shape on the back of my hand.
When SPK played there, there was some problem with the GLC not granting them a licence for pyrotechnics, so they threw a strop and walked off after 15 minutes. Many people stormed the box office and demanded their money back. The ICA would only offer free tickets for any other gig that week. Eventually the police were called and vouchers to claim a refund were issued. In the chaos I managed to claim free tickets for three gigs and get one of the refund vouchers, despite not paying to get in in the first place.
I think, now, the ICA stops gallery and cinema ticket holders from using the bar when there is a gig on, so sneaking in is a lot harder.
