I used to live below someone who played Phil Collins' You Can't Hurry Love on constantly. Bearing in mind this was pre-CDs the effort of going over and putting the needle on the 7" over and over again took some determination (to annoy me).... My next door neighbour now is a sweet old Jamaican fella in his 80s. He occasionally has the telly on too loud cos he's deaf but the only music he plays is old bluesy rock n roll like Chuck Berry. Could be a lot worse. I doubt he can hear anything I play but if he could I suspect my Pogues stuff would do little for him. |

In order to drown out some godawful music from upstairs I put on a side of 'The Best [or such like] of Einsturzende Neubauten' at full volume. And then promptly left the flat. I came back half-hour later to blissful silence...Well I say silence, my ears haven't stopped ringing since. |
