Yeah. (Actually I don't mind the Elbow album, but it's nowhere in my records of the year lists). Fortunately you've joined in to bring the voice of the youth though eh? I subscribe to the Word (or technically Mrs SPT does cos she forgot to put the subscription in my name when getting me it for my birthday). It used to be head and shoulders above the rest of monthlies, but it has slipped back recently. |

Perhaps it's just me, but I reckon all this stuff associated with John Peel these days would have irked him enormously. |

Yeah, the festive fifty, like any poll, was a more a description of its constituency than a benchmark of quality. And it's a constituency which was unique to the man. It simply hasn't held together - couldn't have really - and so really ought to have been left be. I for one rarely listened to Peel - he was on too late for me and I really couldn't be arsed with all the techno noise and reggae. The grunting hardcore thrash on the other hand I was well into - I've got my Hardcore Holocaust Peel Sessions album. Shaw and Spivey on Radio Trent were my cut-price local radio Peels of choice - they actaully did a far more listenable show. |
