I know we're all terrible cynics and musical snobs on here but still....
Was just watching an old Top of the Pops 2 on telly (well, it was on it the background), and the B52's wereon it singing Roam. For my sins, thats one of my favourite pure pop songs of all time, it left me with a silly little grin on my face.
Anyhoo....it left me thinking....how many great pure proper pop songs are there out there. You know what I mean, songs that were never really meant to mean anything in particular, by artists you normally never admit saying you like them maybe, but leave you smiling once you've heard them, restore your faith in pop music. You understand I'm sure....
Wouldn't a comp of those just be great to stick on the stereo on a cold wet and miserable January morning to put a spring in your step? I think so anyway.....
