Stumbled across 'Rockabilly Rebel' by Matchbox t'other day.
Now, as some of yous know, I have a particular fondness for 'hits' from my youth, but this is just sh*te. Indeed, the only saving grace is the version we used to sing at skule.

At a similar time, we had The Lambrettas and The Chords...

But, isn't it just further proof that the whole Mod scene is just way, way cooler than those sweaty, sideboarded fumblers?

The music, is, when pared down to it's bare bones, not that dissimilar, really.
It's the style and the execution.

Oooh a thread on a subject close to my heart. I was a teen during the mod revival of 1980/81 and loved the music, fashion and icons. But I've also had a penchant for old school rock n roll / rockabilly, etc and my record collection at the time had Secret Affair, Motown, the Polecats and Blue Cats all sat side by side. But Quadrophenia was just an amazingly cool slice of youth culture at the time so I dressed like a mod minus target parka, with the skinny tie and button down shirt to school and out of it I had a bit of a Teardop/Bunnymen look with the camouflage trousers.
