Get ready for the Indietracks indiepop festival with a cracking line up at this sure to be sold out Lostmusic popshow:

22 July @ The Wilmington Arms, Rosebery Avenue, Clerkenwell
Nearest tubes (Farringdon and Angel)

First 40 tickets on sale for £5 - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/46922

The Smittens (Burlington, Vermont)
http://www.myspace.com/thesmittens

The Smittens are a five-piece indiepop band from Burlington, Vermont and like to think of themselves as a DIY twee pop explosion. Dana Kaplan, Colin Clary, David Zacharis, Holly Chagnon, and Max Andrucki, with help from the talented Emily Hilliard, switch up instruments, song-writing, and singing to create brilliantly lyrical and hyper-catchy pop songs of all colors, shapes and sizes. Formed on a whim at a party in 2002 by a group of popkids who wanted to make for their friends the kind of music they love, the Smittens have emerged as one of the country’s best-loved underground indiepop quintets, with headlining slots in the past year at the New England, New York, Toledo, and Athens Popfests. The bands third album The Coolest Thing About Love, mixed by Eric Masunaga, is out now, on Athens, Georgia’s indie institution Happy Happy Birthday To Me

One Happy Island (Boston, Massachusetts)
http://www.myspace.com/onehappyislandmusic

One Happy Island is an indiepop band from Boston with sloppy DIY tendencies. Chief exports include handclaps, ukulele strings, harmonicas, bittersweetly jangley ballads, furiously unfocused kazoo solos, and unashamed lo-fi recordings. It is the intention of Shannon, Rebecca, Clint, and Brad to take their songcraft and melodies to new levels of fun, fun, and fun.

The Melting Ice Caps (London, England)
http://www.myspace.com/themeltingicecaps - http://www.themeltingicecaps.co.uk/

"The solo guise of ex-Luxembourg singer David Shah, his love of filthy pop and throbbing synths are back, now with operatic vocals. Delicious. 8/10" - John Earls, Planet Sound on Teletext

"I wasn't quite prepared for the brilliance of the Melting Ice Caps. The name had fleetingly caught my attention not so long ago, but I'd not given much attention to the actual music. My loss, for the gig we witnessed tonight was full of utterly brilliant songs. David commanded the stage like a cross between a young Marc Almond and Jarvis Cocker and was utterly compelling to watch" - Pop'n Cherries

Standard Fare (Sheffield, England)
http://www.myspace.com/standardfare

The latest band to join the impressive roster of Thee SPC. They're a three piece fronted by Emma, who's soaring vocals are a mix of Isobel Campbell and Debbie Harry. Their debut release "Dancing" is a tale of broken relationships told to a delicious melody that's musically somewhere between the Lemonheads and Los Campesinos.

We've added a fourth band:

The Melting Ice Caps (London, England)

You may have gathered that Lostmusic is no more. But this show goes on. With entry for the first 50 people - you'll get an Odd Box Records Sampler. This is my new label.

Confirmed thus far for the compilation are:

Sparky's Magic Piano
Papa Topo
The Kick Inside
The Sunday Reeds
PinkShinyUltraBlast
The Give It Ups
The Crack Babies
The Monorals
Golau Glau
Lovelust
The Humms
The Millipedes

There are a couple more bands that might feature as well

So yeah, come along to this mighty fine pop show and get a FREE ODD BOX records compilation CD. That's 4 bands for fiver as well as this CD. Woo Hoo!

So who's coming along to this?

It's worth it for Standard Fare alone. And a free 14 song Odd Box sampler!

SoundsXPers can get on the £4 cheapolist if they PM me.

:-)

Hope to see a few of you along for this.

Excitingly I’ve manage to bring the first odd box records compilation together. It’s 14 songs long and it’s going to be given away free to the first 50 people through the door at this pop show.

The Compilation is called ‘Accidental: An Odd Box Records Sampler‘ and the full track listing is:

01 It’s Always the Quiet Ones – The Kick Inside (from ODD001)
02 2000 & Something – The Sunday Reeds
03 Deerland – Pinkshinyultrablast (from ODD003)
04 Four Day Week – The Give It Ups (from ODD005)
05 Shine – The Crack Babies (from ODD002)
06 You Should Be Your Light – The Monorals (exclusive to this release)
07 Soft Silver Young (Single Mix) – Golau Glau (from NET001)
08 Daniel – Falling & Laughing (exclusive to this release)
09 If You Lived Here – Play People (exclusive to this release)
10 Are You Dead? – The Humms (from ODD004)
11 Sun Don’t Reach – Lovelust (from forthcoming release ODD007)
12 Ooh Wee – The Millipedes (from forthcoming release BOX001)
13 One 2 One – Sparky’s Magic Piano (exclusive to this release)
14 Oso Panda – Papa Topo (exclusive to this release)

The compilation will be available to buy from http://www.oddboxrecords.com site shortly for £4 plus p&P for those that can’t make the show on Wednesday.

Doors are at 7:30pm for this. Not 8pm like the poster says!

Please come along nice and early to see Standard Fare's debut (I think) London show. They are due on at 8pm!

Stage Times:

8:00pm - Standard Fare
8:45pm - The Melting Ice Caps
9:30pm - One Happy Island
10:15pm - The Smittens
