There's an article on indie shops in today's Guardian, quoting Graham Jones. Rough Trade East is retailer of the year again but what's this about "Sister Ray...taking a punt on the Arctic Monkeys' debut"? They claim to be the first shop to distribute the EP - that can't be right can it? |

The article is I can see why Rough Trade are prospering and Action struggling. RT's two shops are amazing and the website is excellent. No idea what Action's shop is like but the website is awful. |

Having dealt with a lot of independent shops directly for Thee SPC, it's interesting to note that the ones who were shoddiest to deal with & never or reluctantly paid-up are the same ones who have gone/are going out of business. We sell just through a handful now (mostly Rough Trade, Piccadilly, Norman) & they all treat us incredibly well, given how tiny/tinpot we are! |
