Why would the rarity of the singles have any impact on musical quality? And if that's a source of irritation for you, then you should be glad that the excellent Switched On series (and Oscillons From The Anti-Sun) brings pretty much all of the rare stuff together in one handy place. One of the great things about Stereolab is that, unlike pretty much any other band I can think of, they were consistently interesting and worthwhile through their whole career, and actually covered more musical ground than most musicians can manage. |
