is the label side of things from the relaunched indie-mp3 review site. It also rose from the ashes of Lostmusic which we decided to end earlier this year (my Lostmusic pal Trev now has his own label at Oddbox Records). So what can you expect? Well the label will release indie pop, electro pop, shoe gaze, lo-fi, hi-fi, jangle pop etc, basically anything I love and want to release. indie-mp3 records will be a not for profit label. Once release costs are covered all profits will go to the bands to encourage them to relase further material, get a deal, tour etc. Releases will be on CD and digital formats. The label's first release will be on 1st June 2009 by Leeds band The Seven Inches. This will be followed later in the month by The Platers. Future releases currently scheduled will be by the likes of Horowitz, The Bilinda Butchers, Very Truly Yours and The Candy Twins. The Facebook Group can be found . |

The first single indie mp3 records was released today. It's by the Seven Inches and is titled the Open-ness & Honesty EP. It features three tracks and some weird and wacky artwork by the band! "The title track takes me back to early Comet Gain with Ian Cockburn's rough growl tempered by Emily Clavering's matter-of-fact vocals, and a cheery background. It's a proper little strumpet of a song. The Rowing Song reminds me why The Seven Inches are sometimes unfairly derided as some kind of comedy band, in the fact that it's about a minute long and shouldn't be taken too seriously at all. But it's closer To Boldy Go which steals the show. To Boldly Go is to The Seven Inches what The Foolishness We Create... was and is to Airport Girl; a sort of indiepop epic. It's beautiful, and bittersweet and longing and funny and sad all at the same time and I love it. It's good to have The Seven Inches back. It really is. " A Layer Of Chips "Among the stuff found which definitely is worth mentioning is that indie-mp3 will launch its own record label, which (no surprise really) will be called indie-mp3 Records. First release to see the light of day will be the 3 tracks Openness and Honesty EP by Leeds six-piece The Seven Inches, and if everything works out according to plans it should be out June 1. I suck at reviews, but the title track is highly energetic, catchy, guitar-driven indie pop tune ending out in glorious fashion with trumpets galore. The final track on the EP, To Boldly Go, is shared with permission, and although it doesn’t quite reaches the wonderful heights of the title track, it works really well as an appetizer and should be enough to convince you that this is a must buy!" Hits In The Car You can buy it from the new label website which is . |

To tie in with the start of their German mini tour today sees indie-mp3 records releasing a digital single by Twickenham based popsters . Titled Happy Families b/w Wonder Woman Part One both tracks are taken from their recent EP on Lostmusic which is unavailable digitally. I don't think the, ahem, dulcet tones of the frontman of The Candy Twins would earn too many awards but the Surrey trio's old school maudlin 80s indie hits the odd spot, particularly track two's Happy Families' neat hooks - Sounds XP The release is available on i-tunes or direct from . The CD version is still available at . For those in Germany the tour dates are: 22 Jul 2009 Berlin - The Bang Bang Club 23 Jul 2009 Leipzig - Noch Besser Leben 24 Jul 2009 Berlin - Mokum 25 Jul 2009 Sankt Andreasberg, Mini Woodstock Festival, Sankt Andreasberg, Harz mountains Expect an album on indie mp3 records in 2010. |

There is nothing like internet gremlins to prevent a release going live. Well here it is a day later than planned The Risky Woods EP by The Sequins. You can get it from here until I sort out what is wrong with the site! http://indiemp3records.bandcamp.com/alb ... y-woods-ep The NME recently said in a piece about the current Coventry scene that ""The Sequins for instance deploy Wild Beast-style goosey voicedness strapped to Sparksian glam melodies, worn with an air of Maccabees wistfulness. It seems to be working for them: right now they are the town's fastest rising starts" "If The Sequins was a place, it would surely be a land of magical enterprises; a spell-binding flurry of sparkle- located somewhere near to Narnia. A trip to The Risky Woods for some indie tunes or turkish delight anyone?" |
