Aren't Madrid also having a bit of a clearout at the same time as reinventing the galacticos? Could do worse than get someone like Sneijder in if he's available. Slight regrets seeing Ronaldo go, he's only an £80m player because of his development at United, but no-one's bigger than the club so it was sort of inevitable. And he's clearly on the wane anyway - what was it, only 30-odd goals last term compared to the previous 40-plus? |

I still don't know if Valencia will be up to the job. Although it'd be pretty difficult for any player to replace Ronaldo, Valencia has never looked anything more than a good player for me. This is based watching him play for Ecuador, as opposed to Wigan though, so I may well be wrong. Speaking of Ecuador, they beat Argentina 2-0 the other day, there's nothing quite like listening to 35 000 hoarse Ecuadorians mocking Maradona. Good times. Although Ronaldo was an excellent footballer (though not a patch on Messi), I for one will be happy not to have to see his whinging, cheating, petulant show-pony antics on display next season in the Premiership. |
