If you go down to your local open mic night I reckon you'll end up meeting plenty of people up for a jam, possibly a side or full project. My local ones* are all full of little evolving groups of people collaborating. Some good old faces like Babar Luck and people like Kate Tempest who's getting herself a name. There is often the expected folk and/or indie tinge but there's plenty of variation on top. You can try out new stuff on a generally good natured and tolerant audience, get to know the local faces and get pissed. On a school night! *Tuesdays at the Half Moon, Herne Hill Wednesdays at the Old Nun's Head in Peckham and the Railway in Tulse Hill on Thursdays |
