And Norwich remain the only English side ever to have beaten them at their ground. Just wanted you all to know. That is all. |

I think I may owe Bola a pint ![]() But yes, fair point tim. What a run. Am I right in recalling that you had Inter Milan in the next round too and they only edged you out on away goals? |

Well, we lost 1-0 to Inter Milan on both legs. Good run though. |

Jeremy Goss with a coolly taken side-footed volley? I remember that well, superb result. Is Goss available for our return game, perchance? |

You'll need to score two goals on your return game, so if you're taking Goss with you, let's not forget the brilliant and less-remembered Mark Bowen header that finished them off... |

Credit to Bayern - they knew what they needed to do and did it. It was a second yellow but I wish more yellows were shown for that 'waving your hand in a card-brandishing sort of way'. I'm sure a few reds for that would sort the problem out. Here's hoping Barca make as big fools of them as they did us in the final... |

Fuck Bayern, we absolutely embarrassed them in the first half 11 on 11, and Raphael had Franck in his back pocket the entire half! His first yellow came after he was fouled when about to cross into the Bayern box. If the ref had been doing his job, Raphael wouldn't have flicked out, but he did and a yellow is the only choice. But it should really've been a yellow for both players and our freekick. His second was very, very soft considering how freely the ref had let the game run. He put his hand briefly on Ribery's shoulder, a soft foul at worst. The ref had no intention of pulling out another yellow until the Bayern team starting bullying him. After the lesson Raphael had dished out to Ribery in the first half you can understand his desperation to get the poor lad off the pitch. Yeah, Fergie should probably know better than to speak his mind these days, but fucking hell, German and Italian FOOTBALL TEAMS are cunts, we all know that. If they're not rolling around on the floor they're signalling the 'card him' sign to the referee every chance they get. That has nothing to do with German/Italian PEOPLE though, at least not to me. English players/league play at best - fast and direct football, at worst - dull and unskillfull football. I wouldn't take offence if the France manager said in an interview when questioned about the fact we'd played route one for an entire half, 'typical English', I'd laugh, it's football...and it's true. When the World Cup rolls around, we're always reminded that there are national football teams who whine, fake, protest a lot more than we're used to seeing. I for one will be generalizing at literally every chance I get - I might even paint my nose purple. |

How many of the players who surrounded the ref actually were German? It was an excellent game, I thought. The Rags were brilliant right up until Bayern got their first goal. Surprised at how brittle/nervous Utd were after that - you could pretty much see the spectre of defeat haunting the players for the whole of the second half. |
