Only just got round to watching it. Yes I get the extremely crystal clear point of the video but I hate it anyway. Firstly the graphic shooting in the head of a child ain't necessary. Secondly the exploding kid at the end is silly. Thirdly the music is shit. The end. |

I wanted to see it once I realised it was by Costa-Gavras' son but it's incredibly pretentious for a really feeble message (nicely shot though). It definitely steals its main idea from Punishment Park by Peter Watkins, plus a bit of Dawn of the Dead, I reckon. MIA's song is basically a graverobbing of Ghost Rider by Suicide with a bit of screaming over the top. |

Not so much "born free" as "point free". Well not entirely, clearly the point was to have some kewl footage of kids being shot and exploding and that. By using redheads was it somehow supposed to be more shocking/arbtrary than if it had been shown as black people, say? I do hope not. But if not what's the point when shorn of any context? Still, exploding kids eh? Kewl. |
