Some of the coverage has been absolutely awful. The mock, and very insincere, sombreness of the 'reporters', the hushed tones, the excruciating 'paradise gone to hell' line of soundbites and, sad to say, the 'gripping' recollections of witnesses along the lines of 'you knew something was up when his head exploded...', etc... You just know that this story is a godsend to the media, they LOVE stuff like this - all that was missing was a few dead puppies and the circle would be complete. We were away until last night, having had a week away from the news, so had no idea what had happened - ten minutes into the ITN coverage we still didn't know what had happened, as the soppy tart presenting didn't see fit to summarise the previous day's events in between her pouts to camera. Still, it tides us over for a few days before the footy starts. Grr.... |

I was watching Springwatch on Monday and I thought it was a bit insensitive of Simon King to quote the “you looking at me?” lines from Taxi Driver when he was trying to translate the song of the skylark! |
