All covers with female vocals? Interesting angle, maybe Bruce is more one of those songwriters whose songs sound better sung by others than we might have thought? Bit like the American Billy Bragg, or even a modern day Dylan...

Hehe. Although part of me assumes EB's thinking "Hey if you're going to do a cover at least make it different" and there's nowt more different than a twee female doing a version of a song normally performed by a hairy arsed stadium rocker, the other part thinks it's just EB's soppy camp side coming out.

Interesting thread though cos I wrote off Bruce for years and it's only recently that I have started to think I was wrong and others might have been right - his songs actually were good even if his image wasn't particularly. Anyway I do still have 3 tracks off that comp on my iTouch. As well as the Allo Darlin track I have The River by Airport Girl and Born to Run by Lucinda Black Bear.

However my fave Springsteen cover is not even on that comp. Thunder Road by Kev Rowland.
