I know this is well covered on the net by unscrupulous zines in crafty semi-viral attempt to get hits from Google searches... but having just seen the cover of Peaches' latest 10" offering (ahem) - a very lifelike sketch of an erect cock and balls seconds after it's spent its load - got me thinking about ones that shocked us. Or didn't but should have. The obvious 'didn't but should have' is that 70s Scorpions cover of a girl, who must have been about 14, topless. I still hate looking at the Dead Kennedy's Cambodia one too. |

There’s a Big Black 12” that came in a rubberised outer sleeve and when you sliced it open the cover was an autopsy photo of a corpse with severe head trauma – I’ve not looked at it for years but I think one side had the orderly holding the head together, the other was of it all opened up. In fact most Big Black covers were pretty “challenging” in one way or another. That said, nothing is as traumatic for me as seeing a Sting or Police cover. |
