Some of us fops like to stay looking sharp, despite our sagging bodies. So if you tend to get your bit of schmutter from Biggleswade market this is probably not the thread for you. However for the rest of us it's a chance to share info on decent CHEAP shops. I'll start:

in Strutton Ground, Westminster (just off Victoria Street, 5 mins from St James tube)

Run by a dad and his son and been there donkey's years. DMs are always around 45 quid, loads of quality stuff like Loakes, etc around 80 quid, etc. They also sell some brilliant unbranded shoes too - Chelsea boots for 22 quid, desert boots 16 quid, etc.

Also really like Red Square in Middlesbrough, well their sales anyway, but for me at least, that's online only.

In work not working

Judging by I assumed you lot were all anti-fashion!? I know there's a line between being sartorially correct and looking like a twat but sometimes that line can be a hair's breadth.

Anyway, I find the high street an incredibly boring, life sucking place to be so I prefer to shop at these places:

- they recently took stock from Steinburg and Tolkein (King's Road) after they closed down. They also occasionally host little parties where they give you free booze!

I call it The Shop Of Dreams 'cos it has a surprisingly large gents section and the trouser rail is often incredible. It also houses a rail of check Paul Smith-esque shirts for the Bovines of this world.

As for shoes, I've heard very good things about . You put your bare foot on a sheet of paper, draw round it then sent the sheet to them and they suggest a shoe style to suit the contours of your foot. They make it for you to your specifications and you have a shoe for life: if you wear out the sole, just send it back and they'll re-sole it for free.

Also, is worth a read.

But yeah, thrift store shopping is generally much more satisfying because you know the things you've picked out are pure one offs and usually a hell of a lot better made than mass market high street stuff.
