Post subject: | Old music mags |
The other day I was clearing out the back bedroom and turfed out a few dozen old Record Collectors and Music Collectors (a late 90s rival mag). I also tripped over a few Spiral Scratches (which I'll keep). All I need now is a few classic early 80s NMEs, 79/80 Sounds (with Gary Bushell bits torn out), Vox and Select and I'll have the very best of alternative music printed journalism. Any others?* * ok not exactly classics but I do remember buying those awful lyric and poster mags from the late 70s/very early 80s occasionally just because it might have a Teardrop Explodes poster or a Jam song lyrics. What a waste of money - and thank Christ for the net. |

I have a load of old fanzines knocking about. I have been meaning to scan them in and upload to the net. |

I've heard lots of old fuckers bangin' on about how great the 'Sniggin' Glue' fanzine was. I was not yet conceived when it was in publication, but I did receive a compilation cd by Mark Perry under the Sniffin Glue name. It was really good. I think fanzines will have a revival of sorts soon (vinyl, cassettes etc as people long to regress to times they've lost) and I'd Love to start one up... I wouldn't at all mind spending the hours typing my idiotic opinions on pop culture down, and I wouldn't mind travelling 'round to venues/shops 'distributing' it, but I lack the means and know how to put the layout together and get it printed (as cheap as possible) every month - so if any of you lot would like to collaborate (I think 3 or 4 people is ideal) with me, please PM me here and let me know your thoughts. |
