Off my mittens on ecstacy at Clockwork Orange all nighters in the early 90's. That's my main memory of the place. Seen quite a few gigs there too over the years but can't think who as I always get gigs in the Astoria mixed up with ones in the Town & Country Club/London Forum. Fairly sure that I saw the Cooper Temple Clause in the Astoria. It was feckin' loud! |

Driving for Primal Scream, when they supported Julian Cope. Got lost back stage, Spinal Tap style and bumped into an equally lost Chrissie Hynde. The only good gig I ever saw there was Einstürzende Neubauten |

Horrible horrible venue especially when it was full and you were trying to get out being pushed down the stairs while bouncers shouted at you...sort of like a hazing by drug-crazed security team on an army assault course... If i had to pick a place to turn into a total unnecessary tube station i would probably have picked the Astoria. |
