Saw the Killers when they were nobodies and hated them. Saw the Kaiser Chiefs when they were first on the bill out of 3, as Parva. They were crap but I suspected that I'd see the guy in the gold lame suit again. Briefly. Saw Tenpole Tudor there and Eddie said that the promoters had tried to pull the gig a couple of days before it took place through low sales. He told them to trust him, his fans would show up on the night. It was half full - Eddie was brilliant obviously. There was one gig - no idea which - where some student twat in front of me kept waving his fag around at head height. Anyway, at one point he was just about to light another so as he stood fag in lips fumbling for his lighter I thought enough is enough and slapped the fag from his lips. He turned and lurched to grab my throat but Cock Weasel stepped in and grabbed him by his instead and then told him to fuck off. He then disappeared for a while before reappearing talking to a neck tattooed skin. I then started to worry thatit was going to kick off but the skin wandered off. A little later the twat wandered over to where we were standing and placed a pint on top of the enormous aircraft propellor sized fan next to us. Unfortunately it was circular and on and the drink fell off splashing Nancy... I thought Cock Weasel was going to have to strangle him yet again but he apologised and bought Nancy a drink. Saw the Muffs there when the front woman kicked some over exuberent punk at the front full in the face. Saw Rancid there, who were amazing, and saw a pissed up Dave Mac mount the stage to stage dive off, only to be pushed straight back onto it agai, repeatedly. I loved the old Garage. |

British Sea Power in 2004 - awesome. Mystery Jets supported and sang mostly in Latin (do they still do that??) The Organ - Great band, heartbreaking song in the encore that had the whole place struck. Shame they broke up less than a year afterwards. Bovine - didn't you see Franz Ferdinand here with their ill-advised FF armbands?? |

Played there so often (up and down) with various bands that the manager of the garage got quite pally and one time gave me pucchine (irish very very very strong whisky/poison) telling me it was the strength of weak wine (so i drank a pint). I woke up 3 days later very confused. |

Remember....Action Time supporting Melt Banana and our singer flinging open the toilet door on a member of Melt Banana mid action - the MB chap was mortified and almost crying with embarassment...sorry mr MB...MB were great by the way especially their cover of Surfing USA....Also remember chatting the the sound engineer (a bit old school) who told me he liked women drummers 'especially when they didn't wear bras like her out of Sleater Kinney'. |
