You ever read Charlie Gillett’s The Sound of the City? He identifies, rightly, It Will Stand by The Showmen as one of the archetypal rock’n’roll records. That was one of General Johnson’s earlier bands, probably when he was still a corporal. I’d say that was one of his finest moments, along with Freda Payne’s Bring The Boys Home and Want Ads by the Honey Comb, both of which he penned. Adios, field marshal! |
