And of course [ingenting] the only band on Labrador Records which sings in Swedish. There is also Vapnet, another Swedish language band, who I think have split and become someone else. If you want a bit of dance music in the mix there are the likes of Tough Alliance who are incredible live or The Embassy. I am remebering loads more now such as Lasse Lindh, Montt Mardie, Jens Lekman (who I think is totally over rated) and Pelle Carlberg amongst others. Visit the Labrador site if you haven't already. They offer plenty of downloads on their . |

The Labrador site is great. I use it a lot. The Tough Alliance have a label themselves don't they? I think CEO might be a spin off band. Then there's The Knife and Fever Ray too. Sweden always seems to have good bands. I'll be checking out some of the names you've mentioned. Thanks! |

The only Monte Mardie song I've heard is the Pirate Bay one. Didn't think much of it to be honest... Can we count Glasvegas? Their new drummer is Swedish apparently. |

Most of what I'd say has already been covered off I think! Although a fair few belting albums have been missed... Irene - Apple Bay Irene - First Gone Since Summer Loney, Dear - Loney, Noir Hello Saferide - Introducing... Peter Bjorn and John - Writer's Block The Charade - A Real Life Drama Jeniferever - Choose a Bright Morning Loveninjas - The Secret of the Loveninjas Suburban Kids with Biblical Names - #3 El Perro Del Mar - It's El Perro Del Mar My latest favourites are Days (www.myspace.com/daysswe). If the Downhill EP is anything to go by they're going to be very special indeed. A fellow Swedeophile who I know swears by the now-defunct Popundret (http://www.myspace.com/popundret) but I never liked them too much... Maybe you'll have more luck with 'em. |
