Psychic TV in a squatted derelict synagogue. There were some garage gigs in the basement of someone's house in Brixton back in the 80s. You had to go down a ladder to get in! Manic Cough in a woodland clearing. Crass in a squatted derelict bingo hall that later became the Garage (now the Relentless Garage) Numerous gigs at The Ambulance Station (another squat venue, a real former ambulance station) including The Jesus & Mary Chain, Butthole Surfers, June Brides and the usual assortment of anarcho bands. TavFalco's Panther Burns on a boat going down the Thames Laibach at the Diorama near Regent's Park, a wonderful, if somewhat strange building to see a band. Went to a couple of other gigs there, but can't remeber who. The Basildon rock festival, late 70s, held in the grounds of the local swiming pool. Bands included The Vandals whose singer was Allison Moyet, she played there again a couple of years later with the Screaming Ab Dabs. The Nuns in the tunnels behind London Bridge Station Sunshine & Eddie + Patrik Fitzgerald + an interview with Midge Ure at Paul Raymond's Revue Bar. Also saw The Pasage there and I think, The Lemon Kittens |
