Friday 15 July Which Way Is Up! #7 (a cheeky Indietracks warm up show) The Wilmington Arms, 69 Rosebury Avenue Clerkenwell (Angel/Farringdon Tube) Tickets: £5 advance / £6 door http://www.wegottickets.com/event/117122 ★ Dignan Porch ★ http://www.myspace.com/dignanporch From Tooting, South London, Dignan Porch are brothers Joe and Sam on guitars and friends Ben on Bass, Philippa on Drums and Hayley on keyboard. First album 'Tendrils' released on Captured Tracks, is a psyched out collection of blissful pop, noise rock and bedroom experimentations. Song subject matter is often dreamy and abstract, favouring catchy pop structures and freaky effects. At times they touch on folk, exploring melancholic and thoughtful states of mind. And the band are playing this years indietracks too. "Dignan Porch are several matches made in heaven. all the way from exoic tooting, the group touch down into the effects-heavy shoegaze/dream pop world with some lovely vocals and harmonics but they really fly when they unashamedly let loose on the slacker guitar-hero stuff. we're not talkingd dinosaur jr. here, they're slightly easier on the ear than mascis' worse excesses, but 'tendrils' is bursting with coolness and melodies to kill or die for" - Rough Trade "a great slice of slacker psych-pop" - VICE "Slightly tussled London quartet Dignan Porch have created an unassuming, but addictive rainy-day bedroom-pop gem with Tendrils, their full-length debut" - STEREOGUM ★ T.O.Y.S ★ http://soundcloud.com/t-o-y-s/sets/t-o-y-s/ T.O.Y.S are a three piece indiepop band formed in Leeds in 2010. David Kitchen (The Acutes, Angry Sandwich) plays a baby Yamaha keyboard through a mighty speaker, Adam John Miller (Manhattan Love Suicides, The Medusa Snare, The Wednesday Club) plays fuzz bass and Eddy Lines (Manhattan Love Suicides, Downdime) plays drums. A collaboration project that quickly took on momentum, the result is an uptempo blend of lo-fi pop, krautrock and dancefloor indie. ★ Heroes of the Mexican Independence Movement ★ http://www.reverbnation.com/theheroesof ... cemovement From Hull with an added dash of London Welsh. Forming out of the ashes of The Rocky Nest. HotMIM play quirky lo-fi indiepop with a stand up drummer and a fistful of tunes. They feature Simon (once of The Loves) on keyboards. |

And we've added a 4th band: ★ The Fireworks ★ http://thefireworksgopop.bandcamp.com/ (no songs on there yet!) (for this show their line up is Matthew Big Pink Cake (guitar and vocals), Carys (drums) and Russ (bass) both from The Give It Ups. The Fireworks are a new, loud, fuzzy pop group. Carys said this about the band when they announced their arrival: "After just a couple of months, we have about a set's worth of songs, so it won't be long before we're gig ready and raring to go" Yay! |
