"More Songs" got my vote, though it was a very close call between that and "Remain in Light". I think More Songs strikes an excellent balance between mad ideas and likeable, quirky pop. From the darkly disturbing "Warning Sign" to the chilly grandeur of "The Big Country" there are some great songs in there. It's also their funniest album by quite some way: "The Girls Want to Be With the Girls" is a hilarious take on radical 70's feminism and "Artists Only" should strike a chord with anyone who's ever tried to paint/write a song or be in any way creative. It's also got one of the best album titles of all time. An all round class act. |

I've gone for 77 but by a whisker over More Songs. Both are great art rock albums before the still great but funkier stuff that followed and then the plain (but also memorable) pop of later years.. |

Remain in Light, because there's a template there for a lot of the music that followed - full of samples, loops and African rhythms. But Fear of Music comes a very close second, with three of my favourite Heads tracks: Cities, Life During Wartime and I, Zimbra. |
