1976. Just watched an edition of Top of the Pops and it brought back the true horror of that year. No wonder we all loved Abba back then and was desperate for something new to happen (hello punk, come on in... *slams door in face of disco*) |

Can't argue with that, apart from the bit about "No wonder we all loved Abba back then". I never liked them. I could appreciate their craftsmanship, but always found them boring. |

I can't understand why BBC4 has been focusing on 1976 all this time. They keep on repeating TOTP from that year for some reason. |

Totally agree with Cavey. The Ramones & The Modern Lovers' albums were released that year, Bowie was still good & yet to release Low & Heroes. "Cherry Bomb!". The end of that year bought The Pistols et al. That alone eclipses every single year in the 90s. I'd happily take Abba over Take That & Boyzone any day and Britpop was no better than 'Disco' Also, apparently 76 was the |

I'm of the belief that all years are equal. Every year has great music, it's just that sometimes you have to dig a little deeper to find it. |
