V. sad. Fine choice of song to represent him out of so many he's written - Wishin' and Hopin', Trains and Boats and Planes, Don't Make Me Over, What's New Pussycat, Walk On By... |

Very, very sad news. He doesn't receive the same reverence as Bacharach does, but his gift for a chorus line which buries itself in the head definitely made Bacharach's compositions significantly more effective. This is my personal favourite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cap4O9G5yl8 Bacharach, David and Warwick all at the absolute peak of their powers. Pop music's golden trinity. Wonderful stuff. |

RIP indeed but this was his finest moment: Written for Dionne Warwick too apparently but owned by Aretha. |
