He was supposed to be doing a book event with us a few months ago but was rushed to hospital ( I think I might give up - that's two in a row that have been hospitalised rather than do an event for me) so I assume that's what it was.
Very sad, saw him a few times in the 80s and he was indeed a legend.
Brilliantly he once joined BSP for an encore of She Does It Right at the Monico Ballroom on Canvey Island.

I see a pattern here: receive a letter from Jim, go to A&E immediately!

Wilko's book is really entertaining - maybe even more than Oil City Confidential and I'm even minded to watch Game of Thrones for Wilko's appearances. It almost made me want to go back to my Solid Senders albums but then I remembered they're not very good. But Wilko himself is one of the r'n'r gods.

As for Jim's other guest who had to cancel (Pat Long), I read an article by him about his brain tumour operation about 2 months ago. All very sudden and very scary (the pictures of his scars were terrifying) but at least he's alright now.

I adored Wilko in a documentary I watched last year regarding Dr Feelgood and other such matters. I hadn't given him much thought until that documentary. He'll have to be fine because he'll embrace it in his own unique way. We've all got to go, the last few months of his life are going to be agony and ecstasy rolled into one.
