They're both great record covers! Bowie's is more interesting and provoking. Which is always a good thing in pop. Surely? |

I like the Bowie one actually. I like the way it ties in with the album's theme of dissecting pop culture and false characters by completely defacing one of his own personas! |

Having said that, if you knew nothing about Bowie or what's on the album and just stumbled across that cover you would most likely think it was a bit shit. |

Why isn't there an emoticon for "suckers". The emperor isn't wearing any clothes! Then again a half arsed, mediocre sleeve is maybe, at least, a fair indication of the music contained within. |

Can I just point out that, when I started this thread, the idea was for people to post one of their favorite album sleeves and one of their least favorite. Not that I want the whole world to stop talking about David Bowie or anything, just wasn't what I envisaged for this thread. |

I honestly can't think of an album cover worse than that one by Bowie (unless I go digging up one of the novelty records covers that are everywhere on facebook, etc). As for best, I love most psychedelia covers. This one is one of many: But I really like this one so much, it's the only sleeve I have mounted on my wall: |

As record packaging as a whole, my slightly biased opinion finds Spiritualized's 3" CD pill pack pretty hard to beat. As for the worst? Where to start... This somewhat dubious/bordering on child porn effort from Blind Faith surely has to be looked at differently now. I wouldn't have bothered posting it if it wasn't so well known anyway. |
