Good riddance to the former Prime Minister whose hatred of the working class lead to some of the vilest, most divisive and damaging policies of the 20th century. A pox on her corpse for the destruction of swathes of British industry; for the introduction of a tax by which the less a person earned, the higher the proportion of their wages she took; for the annihilation of the trade union movement; for selling arms to murderous despots and dictators, including the Taliban and Saddam Hussein; for a housing policy that has lead to an acute housing shortage, pushed up housing benefit payments beyond sustainability and made decent housing unaffordable to so many people; for pushing up unemployment four fold during her time in office and then moving people from unemployment benefit to invalidity benefit to disguise the true figures (the same people her heirs now call skivers and cheats); for undermining democracy by abolishing the GLC because she didn't like the person Londoners chose to lead it; for the fragmentation of key services due to de-nationalization that has lead to a lack of coherent strategies in transport, communications and energy supply, in order to line the pockets of a privileged few; for support of mass murderer Augusto Pinochet; for claiming that "there is no such thing as society"; for section 28; for support of aparthied; for putting the desires of the individual above the needs of the many; for everything this evil bigot stood for. I only mourn the fact that her legacy continues to fester throughout this country. May she rot in hell for all eternity! |

Well said mate. Some of the media coverage is making me ill. They even claimed on the BBC last night that she helped get Mandela freed. She labelled him as a terrorist for fecks sake! This made me chuckle out loud out at work - Frankie Boyle is among several Scottish Thatcher-haters quoted in the Herald celebrating the death of Mrs T, who was despised north of the border. "Finally," the comic tweeted, "I get to wear my black suit and tap shoes together." |
