Ever discover later that you'd seen someone play before they were well known and really not remember?

According to Songkick, Neko Case supported the Handsome Family when i saw them at Union Chapel.
And flatmate once had a bit of a thing with the singer of Woodchuck, so we went to see them at Barfly once. Supporting Camera Obscura apparently. I think I stayed but...

I inadvertently saw a band called Solomon once. A couple of years later they were known as The Duke Sprit (and Solomon was the name of an early song). Only found out a few years after.

I've been told independently by two people that I was at a Mudhoney gig where the support act were Nirvana. I certainly saw Mudhoney a few times, but I genuinely only have these two people's words for it that I also saw Nirvana. I remember nothing of them at all and was convinced the first person to tell me this was mistaken until the second person also remembered me being at the gig.

Anarachy and Wurzel are constantly telling me that I've been at gigs that I have no recollection of attending. Some of them even gigs we've put on...

Drenge are OK. But the 2 new songs from the new Yuck album are both brilliant! Better than the debut! If you've only heard one then check the other.

Oh I've certainly heard both. Going to see them at Macbeth in a couple of weeks time.

And re Drenge, I think they're above average. Especially considering the dearth of good new rock bands at the moment. The track Backwaters in particular gets a big thumbs up from me.

Don't mean to sound like a negative creep, but I don't particularly rate either band, and I wanted to like both when I first heard of them.

Drenge just sound like a sub-par mish mash of BRMC with the guy from Von Bondies singing, but the songs are less catchy and well written than either of those bands.

Yuck - little rich kids playing 'lets pretend we're MBV', but they've brought no NEW IDEAS to the template at all - listen to Yuck, and then play 'You Made Me Realise' or 'I Believe', it's a direct rip of the idea, template, structural arrangements but the songwriting pales in comparison AND (worst of all) they've sugarcoated the production of someone else's idea. It has no lofi grit, and it needs it.

It's just not good enough, I know I sound like a dick, and I don't like being negative but I expect more out of bands that are getting paid.

I wasn't keen on the first Yuck album (although Georgia is a tune) but the new stuff is sounding ace!

I get where you're coming from HWHH but I like both bands never the less.

Yuck's MBV track sounds like it's filtered through a bit of Teenage Fanclub and that works very nicely imo.

And Drenge sound more to me like Dinosaur Jnr/Sonic Youth/Nirvana than BRMC to me. I'm not hearing that comparison. Again, not highly original but it's a refreshing bit of nostalgia for someone like me and I like the fact that Backwaters doesn't have a chorus, just a catchy riff instead.

Rock on brothers and sisters!! 8)

I refuse to listen to Drenge because of their name
