It's probably not something any of you want to think about, but I was just in the shower. I might be scruffy but I'm clean with it. Now I'm a bloke with a full head of hair. So I've got a bottle of shampoo, not fancy TV advertised, celebrity endorsed stuff or anything, just something to wash my hair. I also have some shower gel for the other bits. As a bloke I think that's perfectly acceptable. 2 bottles of stuff. Besides that I have a bar of soap which I use for shaving because it's cheaper than needless, poncey shaving foam. So that's me...

I Also have a girlfriend (well, she'll be a wife this time next week but it's much the same set up) and she doesn't have 2 bottles of stuff. She has a lot more for reasons I'll probably never understand.

I noticed one (which I'm guessing is some form of shampoo or conditioner) which is by a brand called Hair Supply - almost certainly borrowed from the Aussie soft rock band.

So after that boring story, the idea of this thread is companies who've nicked or changed band names for their own use like that. There's probably a company somewhere called Steps (possibly a gym or a firm that makes ladders or something) but that doesn't count because it's just a normal word.

So has anyone got any good examples? Hair Supply isn't great but I'm hoping it might get the ball rolling.

I'll also add the name of this cleaning firm that was spotted by a mate of mine who's a big fan of The Boss.

They were called Spruce Springclean.

Any more?

Music related but not a band, there's a leading concrete company in London called Jim'll Mix It. That didn't work out too well...

I think there were a few companies who used something similar and have had to quickly adopt a new name. It'd be like opening a Christmas decorations shop called Gary's Glitter.

I think it's perhaps a bit of a leap to link Hair Supply with the band. Really, has anyone normal heard of them? When I get our proper computer back off the kids, I'll repost a photo of a local courier that I've put up before...

When I was in Sunderland, I saw an off license called Amy's Winehouse. That can't be the only one in the country though.

HAIR SUPPLY UPDATE:

I decided to examine the bottle in question in the shower this morning. Definitely a pun. The whole thing was covered in puns and light-hearted banter - almost to the point of being a spoof! I can't remember the longer quotes, but it looks like the company name is Soap & Glory and they believe "a little fresh hair will do you good."

I'm going to ring that number to complain. Dexys, the band, had no apostrophe.... *pushes glasses up bridge of nose*

By the way - before anti-NME rants begin, there are 3 or 4 Dexys album s in the list and in the magazine none have the apostrophe.

It's also a surprisingly good and varied list, even though the top 20 or so is ultra predictable, and it incorporates just about every style of music from every era since at least the 1950s - jazz, soul, indiepop, hip hop, garage, pop whatever.

Only 3 Spiritualized albums though so that's a bit disappointing.

Lots in there that I haven't heard, and even some stuff I've never even heard of.
