R.I.P. John 'Gypie' Mayo, the guitarist who replaced Wilko Johnson in Dr Feelgood. Wilko was obviously an impossible act to follow, but Gypie Mayo made some fine recordings with Dr Feelgood including their biggest hit single Milk & Alcohol, which he co-wrote with Nick Lowe. One of the first gigs I ever went to was Dr Feelgood at the State cinema in Grays, Essex, with Gypie Mayo on guitar. It was a great night. R.I.P. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3gVzE2YxWw |
