Good thread and interesting to see the goal in its context with the pundit referring to England's 2-0 to 2-3 fiasco and exit - normally you just see Jarzinho's pass, Pele's weighted and delayed play on and of course the finish. Good start! |

Yeah, Pele's lay off just makes it for me. So cool and composed, it's almost nonchalant! Sexy football. |

Not the nicest viewing for English footy fans but a wonderful goal obviously: Maradona, Argentina v England, 1986 World Cup |

"The greatest soccer goal I've ever seen" Yeah - one from the American league. It often gets slagged off for not being very good, but in the '70s and early '80s some of the best players ever had spells there. Even bloody Pele. "George Best of the San Jose Earthquakes scored this fantastic goal against the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers on July 22, 1981 at Spartan Stadium in San Jose. It's often called the greatest goal in NASL history." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8wGN5uDaVg I just LOVE the way he beats a player, faints to go one way, and then drags the ball back the other with the outside of his boot. Watch it in slow motion at the end of the clip. He still had the skill even then. |

Sunday A fullback, who a couple of weeks previously had scored with a thunderous drive against Man Utd. That goal got a lot of television exposure. This one no one really made a big deal of, maybe because it's against "lesser" opposition, but personally, I think it shows a finesse that you don't expect from a full back and is an even better goal. Monday Zinedine Zidane - Real Madrid vs Bayern Leverkusen, Champion's League final 2002 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QryFUtRtUiM Pure magic. Incidentally, this is the last time Real won the CL - 2002! |

Liverpool have been truly superb to watch this season. Brilliant going forward and very jittery at the back. For a neutral that's a great combination. Think Rodgers has been superb. Obviously Suarez is one of, if not the, best players in the league but very very impressed with Sturridge too. Also surprised how Henderson has blossomed. Be interesting to see how they get on in the run in because they host a few of the contenders and look better on the break. |

Wednesday Youri Djorkaeff, Inter v Roma 1997 Massimo Moratti said he was going to have a statue made of Djorkaeff's body position as he struck the ball...I don't think he ever did though. |
