Wouldn't like to have had to wade through all those great films and decide in favour of one or the other. Can't argue with those that did win but Amy Lawrence and Leonardo Dicaprio deserved something. |

I'm glad yer one from 12 Years a Slave got supporting actress. Cate Blanchett did a fine job in Blue Jasmine, but Sally Hawkins was the heart of that show for me. |

Been a big fan of Jennifer Lawrence ever since Winter's Bone and, back in 2011, had suggested in these very pages that she'd be a more worthy recipient of an Oscar than Natalie Portman, who went on to win it for Black Swan. But as good as JL was in the overrated American Hustle, Lupita Nyong'o was a more than worthy winner (not that it's really possible to pick a best actor, I mean it's not like a race or a football match). I thought June Squibb was Nyong'o's most worthy rival. |
