Rules - by bedtime I mean sleep, not getting jiggy with it. Also - nothing with dream, dreaming, dreamer and so on in the title because we'll be here forever. That's a whole different subject. So songs about sleep really. There were several Beatles options - So Tired, I'm Only Sleeping, Golden Slumbers... but after hearing this again the other day it has to win (and be number 1). Interesting fact: The only member of The Beatles who appears on this song is Ringo. And that's pretty rare! I'd rather have a Belly reunion that a Pixies one. Narrowly missing the cut - Marion - Sleep, Cornershop - Sleep On The Left Side, Gene - Sleep Well Tonight and assorted versions of The Lion Sleeps Tonight (I grew up listening to the Tight Fit one as that was out at the time.) |

Simon and Garfunkel - Wednesday Morning 3am British Sea Power - To Get To Sleep Bonnie Prince Billy - One With The Birds (for the bit in the middle - "at 6 in the morning I rise from the pillow...etc") Magnetic Fields - Asleep and Dreaming (as marg said) .and an actual bedtime song. They Might Be Giants - Bed Bed Bed (although there is a better version than this, I can't find it on youtube) |
