Reported in today's Guardian, 14 UK bands get government funding. http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/m ... wth-scheme The government has at the same time cut a further 12% of music resources available to schools through the education services grant. Is it just me that thinks that they've got this totally arse about face and that school kids should get every opportunity to learn to play music, but that bands accepting direct funding from central government are just compromising any soul that their music may have previously communicated? |

Whilst I don't agree with the cuts to music resources, I feel that issue is completely unrelated to the Export Scheme which was set up following a government consultation with the BPI and various other industry bods. Any injection of money into music is surely a good thing and the argument about accepting money somehow voiding their art is utter nonsense. The Arts Council are largely government funded (granted, not funded nearly enough) which means pretty much all art is government funded and I'm pretty sure the government doesn't have any say over anyone's artistic vision, because this isn't Russia at the turn of the 20th Century! |

I will anticipate you're speaking approximately the countrywide defence schooling act (ndea). This act strengthened a set of most important academic faculties, technological know-how, generation, engineering and mathematics (stem) whilst also giving incentives to active Navy and those who choose to serve there united states of america in the navy. "ndea became geared toward stimulating and strengthening American schooling reform by way of supplying $1 billion over four years to be infused into forty,000 loans, 40,000 scholarships and 1,500 graduate fellowships. Most people of ndea investment became meant for the ones academically successful students, specially in the stem location, who did not have the financial method to pursue undergraduate and graduate levels." |
