I spoke to Sonic about 5 years ago - maybe 5 and a half - and he was saying that he had a new Spectrum album coming out later that year, and could we sort out some press for it. Then MBV reformed and he went off touring the UK and US with them, then started production work with MGMT, Panda Bear, Cheval Sombre.... still no flipping album! I wish he'd stop appearing at ATP events for a couple of months and get the bloody thing released! Not surprised he's on there if MBV are. As well as all the touring he's done with them, Kevin Shields took the place of Jason Pierce at the one-off Spacemen 3 show in 2010 that was a benefit for Natty Brooker. Poor chap has terminal cancer, although as far as I'm aware, he's still going. Unless anyone knows different? He was an early member of S3 and later he did artwork for them (like the Recurring album cover) as well as early Spiritualized records. There was an exhibition of his stuff on is London a while back. |
