I often find myself wanting to post the new single by a band I (and in rare cases, other members of the forum also) like, but they don't fit into the New Music... thread. So I thought I'd start a different one instead of a seperate thread for each track/band. It's not a daily thing, just to use as and when anyone wants to share a new tune. A couple to get things going, both from bands you all know I'm a big fan of. The new single from The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - Until The Sun Explodes https://soundcloud.com/fierce-panda-rec ... n-explodes I've just given their new album a glowing review. I said it wasn't as good as the debut, but better than the second. Shands disagrees and thinks it's pretty much perfect and is the best they've done so far. So we both like it anyway! The new single from Tennis - Never Work For Free https://soundcloud.com/tennisinc/never-work-for-free/ Their album Ritual in Repeat is out September 9th (in the US anyway, not sure of UK date). It was produced by Patrick Carney (The Black Keys), Jim Eno (Spoon), and Richard Swift (the Shins). Initial verdict is that this is a good song, but they've done better. Knowing Tennis, this'll grow on me like mad though. When I first heard them a few years ago I was in two minds as to whether to play them on my radio show. Then they got album of the year... |

I remember going to their London show where they were promoting it. I have never seen a gig devoid as life such as that. I will give the new album a listen on Trev's favourite music streaming service. |

They originally released this as a single last year but it's being released again to coincide with their new album out at the start of next month. The best track is Angelspeech but it's not streaming anywhere. So here's... The High Wire - LNOE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-BfINTZF08 |

These lot have properly raised their game. Groovy Uncle started as a solo project by Glenn Prangnell (formerly of The Kravin A's amongst others) backed by a few mates. Then they hooked up with a singer called Suzi Chunk and recorded an album she fronted. Now they've become a full band (including Chunk) and have a new album out now or soon (depending on what format you want) and it starts with a great surf instrumental which sadly isn't online yet. There's also mariachi influenced stuff, lots of brass and strings and '60s pop. Nicely varied and fast becoming one of my favourite albums of the year. Anyhoo - this is about all you can hear in full at the moment. The single 'Barefoot in The Car Park' which is a top notch mix of garage, soul and surf. Check it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOvNS1pOAZQ EDIT: Oooh! Didn't realise the video includes a shot of my review of the single. I'm almost famous! |
