It's to save part of Borough Market, an area of immense historical interest and a part of London often used for film sets (it's been used for Lock Stock and Goodnight Sweetheart that I know of). Plus the infamous Hackney Strangler once committed a crime there - I believe there's a blue plaque in the shape of a whelk in honour at the scene... |

my friends have had a shop there (spitalfields) since being driven out of camden by spiraling rents over a decade ago, now the same thing is happening again, with the new sanitised bit has come rich peoples plaything shops, sellingf organic chocolate and kites. the rents have gone up ridiculously over the last couple of years and when my friends lease runs out they think they will have to leave. obviously things cant stay the same forever but its people like them that built spitalfields up and now.... |

Same in Broadway Market Jim. Developers moving in, rents rise and local people pushed out. Hackney is going to become faceless in the future. What do you reckon Westie? |

I went in and then saw the prices, shook my head and laughed as I strolled out again. What sort of Muppet buys a waste of space item like that? You got me what again for x-mas Mrs Bola?!!! |
