The San Diego cosmic psychedelic rockers Earthless start their first ever UK/Europe tour today.
The band are no strangers to Europe though as they appeared at the Roadburn festival last year taking a headline slot on the mainstage in front of 2000 fans. Despite playing alongside giants of the heavy riff, Earthless wowed fans and reviewers alike with their loud, mostly instrumental, grooved out rock with pyschedelic cosmic tendencies. Expect heavy, loud, music that’s at the ‘industrial space-freighter end of space rock’.
The band have two CD/vinyl releases available from Tee Pee Records – ‘Live at Roadburn’ and ‘Rhythms From A Cosmic Sky'.
Pontiak are three brothers from the Blue Ridge farm country of Virginia and accompany Earthless on their UK tour after which they can be seen in Paris, Frankfurt and Berlin with Earthless but then they are off to Italy to headline a tour of their own. The band are signed to Thrill Jockey Records and their latest album ‘Maker’ has received excellent reviews from respected magazines both sides of the Atlantic. Pitchork gave it 7.9 out of 10 saying it was "... one of the most ambitious and iconoclastic rock records of the year” and Wired said “Pontiak delivers powerful anthems that worm their way into your lobes and lay beautiful, noisy eggs."
Though not directly influenced by the likes of Cream, Led Zeppelin and The Doors Pontiak’s music sits comfortably between retro-psych and stoner rock.
