They released their debut single on Radio One DJ Huw Stephens’ Boobytrap Singles Club in May 2001 and then 2 singles, an EP and an LP with the esteemed Track And Field Organisation between September 2001 and February 2004. They also recorded 4 Peel Sessions in 2 years (1 of which was broadcast live from Peel Acres on Valentine’s Day 2002), and sessions for Marc Riley on BBC 6Music and BBC Radio Wales. Their second album “Technicolour” was released on Fortuna POP! in February and was made Album Of The Week by The Sunday Times. 'A wide-eyed retro-chic indie-pop sextet that sound like The Monkees playing at being The Velvet Underground.' - NME www.myspace.com/lovetheloves STRANGE IDOLS Strange Idols played their first gig in 2005, and armed with pop hooks and chiming guitars they have been winning over converts ever since. They released their debut 7” on Shady Lane records in 2005 (produced by Neil Halstead of Slowdive/Mojave 3 and released on his label) and supported The Organ on their UK tour in April 2006. Taking inspiration from bands like Aztec Camera, Orange Juice, The Byrds, Elastica and Stereolab. Stars of How Does It Feel To Be Loved’s “Kids In The Club” album, Strange Idols release a new single “She's Gonna Let You Down Again” on April 2nd. "A curious combination of C86ish swagger with the force of its Postcard forebears and an occasional sprinkling of Talking Headsy martial funk. Thrillingly contemporary and blossomingly conscious stuff." - Playlouder http://www.strangeidols.co.uk/ http://www.myspace.com/strangeidols THE PATTY WINTERS SHOW A band who revel in the quiet tragedy of walking through browned leaves with the sadness, but quiet optimism, of recently-departed love weighing heavy on your heart. Come hear their C86-tinged, but decidedly not twee, charming pop melodies. “Angular chiming riffage, reminiscent of My Favourite Dress era Wedding Present, and topped off with flat male lead and high pitched airy female harmonies. Very promising indeed and bizarrely as yet unsigned.” - SoundsXP http://www.thepattywintersshow.co.uk/ http://www.myspace.com/thepattywintersshow SHIMURA CURVES An all-female four piece from London, Shimura Curves play pristine electro pop in the vein of Stereolab and St Etienne. "Shimura Curves wear lovely carefully chosen dresses, they live on pink wine and best of all create silkily strokeable tunes full of luxuriant harmonies and flickering gorgeousness." - Kitten Painting http://www.myspace.com/shimuracurves www.fortunapop.com |
