Real Live Wires Presents: 'For The Benefit of Mr Jones' On Saturday May 5th Real Live Wires will be promoting ‘For the benefit of Mr Jones’ an afternoon and evening of live music and DJ’s at the Brixton Windmill. All proceeds from this event will go to the King George Fund for Sailors. This event is taking place on Foxy’s (Real Live Wires resident promoter/boozer) birthday weekend to celebrate his birthday and the life of the late Mr Stewart Jones his best friend and head case submariner who can’t be there in person but will be in spirit. Playing live for your enjoyment will be; Lisa Lindley-Jones Most recently seen as part of Audi’s TT Remastered Campaign to which she contributed her haunting reinterpretation of Road to Nowhere, Brighton based singer Lisa is a force to be reckoned with. Her melodic ethereal songs are both moving and beautiful and have lead to a record deal with 4AD/Eye Industries. www.lisalindleyjones.com www.myspace.com/lisalindleyjones Joe Gallacher Returning to The Windmill for the 2nd time this year Joe’s consummate music goes from strength to strength. Expect a rocking set from Joe who is fresh out of the studio and playing with a stripped back band for this show. www.joegallacher.com www.myspace.com/joegallachermusic Abdoujaparov Having spent last year on hiatus and not releasing a new album in 5, it seems strange quite how much Fruitbat’s sometimes tender, sometimes raucous, always fun group have done this year. A new album, new UK tour, and now this one off gig that is one of the last chances to see Fruity on a small stage for a while. www.abdou.co.uk www.myspace.com/idou2 Subliminal Girls The Subliminal Girls aren’t girls and they certainly aren’t ladies, they are in fact a 10 (sometimes 12) legged, skinny jeans, pointy shoes band, intent on tearing a new hole in the fabric of music with their acerbic lyrics and tunes. Just don’t forget to ‘Burn Koko’ or they might not forgive you. www.subliminalgirls.com www.myspace.com/subliminalgirls The Sexual Hot Bitches A bottom-heavy fuzzed out blues racket performed by an all girl two-piece who clearly have more tunes and sound in them than most bands three times the size. Great fun and not to be missed. http://www.myspace.com/thesexualhotbitches Throughout the day there will be DJ’s from Strange Brew playing punk and new wave, Mike Jones playing Brit-Pop and Indie and Foxy embarrassing himself by playing the music he and Stu used to get drunk to. We may also have a special guest or two on stage. Entry is £5, which includes a free BBQ, and doors are 4pm. Advance Tickets are available from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/18012 |
