Timbreland Recordings was set up in 2005 in Manchester. One of it's first releases was by Starless & Bible Black, who were subsequently signed to Chicago's Locust Music, released a 7" on Static Caravan, played last years Greenman Festival etc. The next artist on Timbreland was Nancy Elizabeth Cunliffe (now just Nancy Elizabeth) whose "Wheel Turning King" mini-album was so good, it caused her debut album "Battle & Victory" to be put out by Leaf (A Hawk & A Hacksaw, Hanne Hukkelberg, etc). Nancy has spent the last year touring, being on BBC Radio 1,2,3,4 and 6 and generally getting great press. 2006 saw Timbreland putting out their "Furthest Branches From the Trunk" compilation, which featured Nancy, Autopilot, Little Pebble, We Mythical Kings, Josephine Oniyama (now signed to Universal), Tycoons Follies (now Paul Heaton's band!), Salty DoGGG, LA77 and from Lancaster, the Wisemen and Dan Haywood's New Hawks. April 2007 saw the release of Corn Capri meets Little Pebble, and in October 2007, Timbreland released Dan Haywood's New Hawks EP. 2008 sees several releases in the offing for Timbreland, including Sally Murray, Koryo Saito, Paper Wives and more tbc. Timbreland featured heavily in an article on Manchester's current music scene in the Guradian last week: http://arts.guardian.co.uk/filmandmusic ... 38,00.html http://www.myspace.com/newhawks Dan Haywood's New Hawks play in Edinburgh, Lancaster, Manchester and London |
